Dana is through with being the parent to her mother. I liked the father- daughter relation ship they had, even if he was cold as ice; but it was his few heart warming gestures that made me appreciate him, even if it was only a smile or a pat on the shoulder. The author often references pop culture during Dana’s one-liners and I found them hilarious. She can bring magic to the mortal realm and technology to Faerie. What makes me willing to read the second one in the series is the fact that it did start to gel by the end — the story started moving along quicker and we find a few things out that I wish had been revealed sooner for example, why her cameo starts to heat up when she gets upset or emotional. Preview — Glimmerglass by Jenna Black. Glimmerglass won my heart from start to finish, from scene to scene and from character to character. As Dana tries to make sense of her newfound power, she must differentiate friend from foe.

After all, a gun could kill them if she brought it in.

I really didn’t connect with the MC, though I was sympathetic to her situation. The faeriewqlker story around sixteen-year-old Dana, who flees the move-around life with her alcoholic mom in the States to live with her fae father in Avalon, a neutral mountain state between the human world fareiewalker Faerie, physically situated in Great Britain, picks up around the middle of the book, when Ethan, a panty-collecting member of the Unseelie Court, who tries to woo Dana in order to pull the Faeriewalker on the side of his house, temporaily disappears out of the picture.

My favorite aspect of Glimmerglass was Dana’s narrative – Black managed to keep her wry and witty tone consistent alongside the vulnerable voice of a lost, teenage girl.

Winter Babies Babies in the Park. Ah, here I am, feeling disappointed again with what sounded like a promising series. T Growing up with an alcoholic esries has left Dana feeling a little lacking in the parental department. And here neither the MC nor the story as it evolved to the point I cbaracters reading it got me hooked. And what about the concepts of Glimmerglass and a Faeriewalker?

chaeacters Because she’s so special and rare she’s a trophy to some, a target for others, and in a whole lot of trouble. This time through, I noticed just how much Dana’s mother’s addiction shapes Dana. The only one I think that wasn’t was Keane, and he has promise to be a very interesting character in the faefiewalker to come despite a late introduction.

I have to say that there are parts of the novel that I absolutely devoured Post was not sent – check your email addresses! But that wasn’t Finn’s fault. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy them both, in the end, but after reading it I got the feeling that TSF was this book crossed with Beautiful Creatures; and as it was published before either of them, that feeling really bugs me. While I don’t know yet if I want to try her adult books yet, I will definitely pick up a copy of the next book in the Faeriewalker series.

She’s kidnapped, and rescued by other kidnappers. Latest Book Listings Added. When her mom shows up to another school event drunk, Dana makes a life changing decision. Black has a way of shaping all her characters into such intricate and unique people that you can’t help but want to get to know them better. The beginning of the book was rather 2-stars in my opinion, but one the whole I can say I did not mind reading the rest and liked it. I seriously doubt Dana had a compelling enough personality to inspire that much loyalty in Kimber after only a few days.


You’ve got Ethan totally drool-worthy who is helping her one minute and playing the hero, and the next minute we’re just as confused and suspicious as Dana is of his true intentions. Much about them, in Dana’s eye, is assumed rather than delivered in a “show not tell” fashion.

On the other hand, some of the side characters caught my interest.

What I liked the best about Glimmerglass was the romantic tension between innocent Dana and self-assured but galant Ethan. Avalon balances out the technologies of earth and the magics of fairy. Grab one here and link to YABC! But let’s not forget about Kimber, what a doll! Ethan and Keane, who are both are totally crush-worthy. However, not long after her relocation, The Hunt arrive in Avalon. I had to remind me a few times that Dana is 16 and still a teenager although she wants to be so very mature – she obviously is not. I’m grasping at straws, here. A Story of Sinners, Servants, and Saints. And the setting was cool.

First she’s an ice-queen: And I could understand her feeling fed up and just wanting to get away. Dana has to figure out if she can trust her father, if his loyalties to her out weigh his agenda. So everything she did herself turned out badly.
